Re: IF you had to choose, which VP would it be?

I have the Fonseca rated a point higher than the Taylor when we did the 1994 horizontal tasting a few years back.

Re: What is the BEST Port you've had so far in 2016?

Like Glenn, it was the 1966 Nacional at the 11th anniversary tasting. I don't have my notes here right now, but I believe I gave it 98 points! Stunning! And a few of the other 1966s were just smig behind the Nacional, as you can read in Roy's summer vacation story in the newsletter that just got rel...

I want to echo everyone's comments. This was a really great port weekend ad the 1966 VP tasting was my personal greatest VP tasting ever after going back through my notes. I appreciate the generosity of folks in the bottles they shared, and of course learned a lot from everyone. Let's not wait a yea...

Hey y'all:

I found a UK shop that has some interesting 1966 VPs. Here is the link:

http://www.vintageportshop.co.uk/vintag ... inkType=25

Rebello Valente
Massias

159 and 169 pounds respectively.

Both of my 66's are safely ensconced in my cellar to rest after their long trip across the pond. Should be interesting since these are both UK bottlings.

Re: 2016 FTLOP Madeira get together - UPDATED 4/1/16

I have to echo what has been said here. It was an absolutely amazing weekend full of sensational madeiras, incredible table wines, some outstanding people, and great food. The whole weekend was decadent and exhilarating to the extreme and I can't thank Roy enough for putting this together. I now kno...

Re: 1985 30-year retrospective - February 26 - Chicago, IL

The port I have had the most experience with in this flight is the Smith Woodhouse. Have had it around 8 times, mostly because I bought a half case on close-out at a local store. Sometimes it is very underwhelming and makes me wonder why I bought so much, while other times it sings and reminds me wh...

Opened up a Dow 20 year old tawny. It was pleasant but didn't blow me away. I doubt I would replace it in my cellar.

Re: 2016 FTLOP Madeira get together - UPDATED 2/21/15

I would vote a and e, but it looks like most folks like to fly blind. :) As a relative noob to madeira, I find it good to know what I am drinking so I can start linking up the tastes in my mouth to my brain, but I have learned with port that I can do that blind as well. So I bow to the collective wi...

Re: What have you opened this week?

While playing the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with friends last night, I threw open an Offley 10 yro Tawny and we were all impressed with how good it was. Probably around 90 points. I think one of my friends was at 91. The flavors were semi-complex and pleasing. Everyone said that it was a nice p...

Why don't I post more on the forums? Probably because I don't like communicating through typing that much. I am much more likely to communicate face to face with somebody. I like the interaction of talking. I rarely post to any of the forums that I frequent. I like reading them for information, but ...
