soap

I use the "After it's already clean, 5 rinses with fresh water" rule, and have been known to re-rinse clean glasswear before use.

Of course I don't always have that much control . . .

This gets much better on day two and especially day 3!

My TN, written on a paper towel over three days/nights, was never transcribed, but very positive.

It was tough not finishing the bottle the first night. I felt in the interests of science I had to see what day two would bring however.

I opened a mag of Something Rothschild I think to see me through. May an 82 or 61 -- don't quite remember.

day 2

Stored overnight in the 1/2 full bottle, air sucked out with one of those vacuum things. Never actually decanted. The nose had a slight yet non-obtrusive whiff of alcohol, talcum, and dark fruits, although not as big as day 1 On the palate certainly more young VP-like. Great big mouthful with oodles...

Day 1, it was like a very good unfiltered LBV. Warres 94 coming to mind: On the nose, some plum, some graphite, and lots of very dark fruits. Great balance, luscious mouthfeel, and lip-smacking good. Similar to what one would expect from the nose. Just trying it now on day 2. More "VPish" ...

1997 Sandeman Vau Vintage Port

I've always claimed I'll open anything I have whenever I feel like it. Tonight I opened a mag of VP, no decanting, no one else but me, no excuses. It's a 97 Sandeman Vau. Signs of prior seepage, although the cork looks absolutely fine and not saturated nor like the Port seeped out obviously, althoug...

Yeah, they breed, like rabbits.
And the faster you drink them, the faster they breed.

Curious, ehh?

Although fat and middle aged, I could do it. It takes me close to 7+ hours though, 8 hours for the few centuries I did last summer.
Congrats on your great start to the new year!

A drive is easier than a fly Roy, but then again maybe not safer after Port :)

I don't get around like I used to with 3 little kids, but I'm up for something semi-local! Might even be able to do it here. My kids love Port!

Got my mag, and it had signs of previous seepage and low fill -- didn't look so good. Wines 'Til Sold Out told me "we will refund your card today" and "try it and if it is still good, have a toast on us." I'm happy (and should I post this on the main board too?) Now a couple of o...

1985 Warres Vintage Port

1985 Warres -- 88 points Still a pretty dense and rich red color. Cinnamon and a touch of smoke on the nose A light, airy, and refreshing body with a backdrop of red fruits. A light wine with little complexity. Pleasant enough but not exciting. Others liked it more than I did. Tasted three times wit...

I've had it twice, and must admit that despite having no clue what loganberries resemble, had similar experiences except that I found fresh pear on the nose and finish, specifically very strong fresh Bosch pear. "Ripe yet firm pear, and very distinctive," read my notes Do loganberries rese...

Andy, only decanted for maybe 30 minutes. It did improve with air I thought, but we got more festive as time went on too so hard to tell.

One bottle left -- will decant the next one. I may look for more as its the wifes birthyear.

It's my favorite :)
