Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version
So I reached out to Roy, just to see if he had any existing travel plans to be in LA this fall, and indeed, tours keep him busy until Oct 28. Taking these dates in mind (not just for the possibility of Roy's joining us, but also for those who might be going on the tours), then Oct 28-29 would be the...

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area May 1, 2015 -- POSTPONED
Shall we separate the recent comments into a separate thread? Not sure if that is possible. I'm up for picking a Saturday sometime in the Fall. I realize it seems far away... but the summer will fly by, and the advance planning would likely help those coming in either from Northern CA or other state...

Re: Shipping from Christie's in LA?
Hey Eric
I noticed that Christie's estimate for those 1864 port bottles was.... juuuuust a bit outside.
Hope you were able to grab a couple things you were interested in!
I was secretly hoping the madeira market had cooled off a bit, but alas, not nearly enough.

Going halvsies or thirdsies on an Auction bid?
So as some of you may have seen, Christie's is having an online auction for 60 bottles of 1954 Justino's Henriques Verdelho... and separately 72 bottles, 108 bottles, and three lots of 120 bottles each of of 1964 Justino's Henriques Boal... all in their own lots. Anyone fancy splitting a bid with me...

Re: Corked bottle refund
I would agree that since it was within 2 weeks, and especially if it was a recent bottling, it makes sense to try to help you out with a new bottle. (Not faulty customer storage, not buying a very old vintage wine bottle that the buyer realizes has a chance of being corked, etc) I also realize that ...

Re: Mourao "100"
By the way, I will be traveling to the NJ/NY/CT area for a scant few days between Dec 26 and Dec 30 in case anyone in that area is at all interested in the above bottle. I could bring it with me! I'm also open to trades, etc. Happy Holidays!

Re: Mourao "100"
Many thanks for the very helpful insight, Glenn! I was fortunate to be able to enjoy another one of these bottles, and hopefully someone else will enjoy this second one which is in perfect condition. I really am willing to accept any reasonable offer, ESPECIALLY from someone on this forum! Here is a...

Mourao "100"
Hello dear friends and fellow port lovers (in particular, Mourao lovers)! I would like to find a new, appreciative home for my largely untouched bottle of the rather legendary "100" from Mourao, which has been in a professional wine storage facility since purchase several years ago upon re...

I'm on the West Coast (LA) and there are a couple of us out here, but would be up for an organized tasting in/around here or SF or LV! Of course, I've been known to travel for madeira tastings....

Wow! I'm stunned in silence just reading this from you, Eric! Thank you for sharing! (Actually, I'm also interested in reading your more detailed tasting notes when you are ab...

Thanks for this, Glenn! It was amazing to read; i can only dream about experiencing it! One day, Roy! One day! My mouth was watering and I very much hope to enjoy one of these tours (my predictive typing wanted to type "toys" instead of "tours" which is not too entirely far off)....

Re: Port and the Pandemic -- your consumption habits
My port consumption has been significantly lower, but this is due to the fact that we tend to share the ports with friends, and/or during times when people might be over or visiting, etc. And since we have not had people over, nor hosted nary any dinners nor visitors due to the health crisis, we hav...
