Lovely wine. Nutty. Moderate acidity. Smooth. Lacks the astringency of younger sercials. I see why Alex Liddel said that it was one of his favorites.

I have a copy of the 21 March 2006 RWC newsletter with the offer for 1950 Faja dos Padres terrantez. I bought one for $195. The next time I bought one was in 2008. I think the price was $395 then. They were bottled in 2002.

When I first bought this wine in 2006 and 2007, the price was $40-$50. It was a bargain at that price. I would think that a representative price for this wine now would be $125-$150. 1916 Barbeito malvasia (bottled in 2005) on 1 July in observance of the centenary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme. We also had a two burgundies and and a spatlese, but the madeira was the star of the show.
