Re: What is your MOST PRIZED Port possession?

My most prized bottle of Port would have to be the bottle of 1963 Taylor's that I purchased back in 2005 directly from the Taylor's lodge in Vila Nova De Gaia. To have a 1963 cellared all that time by the producer provides the ultimate provenance. I also picked up a 77 Taylor's on that visit as well...

Re: crowned cork

HI Glenn, I just opened a bottle of Fonseca 1970 last night that contained a profoundly crowned cork. I wasn't too too worried as I've experienced this many times with Taylor 1977s and they for the most part, were just fine as long as they weren't leakers. In your case, I would return the bottle as ...

Roy, I can most definetly empathize over the '83 Cockburn. I had my first bottle of the '83 Cockburn about three years ago and the bottle was so impressive, I contacted the seller and purchased a whole case the very next day. Yes, you have probably figured out that I get quite impulsive when it come...

Roy,

I've taken your advice and installed a hidden camera just outside the vinotemp. If she's switching, I'll find out soon enough and then......."No Port for You/her!"

Were getting psyched for the tour! 7 months exactly from today!

Best regards,

Jeff

I've always perceived the TCA smell similar to the smell of band-aids. Most of the corked bottles that I have had over the years are from Dow's. I opened one '77 recently that was corked and in the past it was usually the '83 Dow's that was corked most often.

1963 Fonseca Vintage Port

I opened a 1963 Fonseca VP on Friday with my wife's blessing :D in celebration of our decision to join the upcoming Harvest Tour. :P I'm not great on writing tasting notes but I will do my best to convey my impression and experience. This was our very first tasting of a Fonseca '63. Up to that point...

Alan,

Thank you very much for the tasting report. It sounded like a lot of fun!

It is very interesting to read tasting differences between the Bristish bottlings versus the Portuguese bottlings.

Thanks again for providing such a thorough and informative report.

Best regards,

I agree too with the comments on the '85 Warres. It's been peaking since at least mid 2005. I bought 9 bottles last year and last I looked, they have all disappeared. Yummy port at a fantastice price!

Enjoy!

New Member (relatively speaking)

Hello Friends, I've been a member since 11/05. I thought I'd take a moment to come out of view-only mode and introduce myself. Please forgive my length of post. I'll keep subsequent posts shorter. I simply want to share my passion and love of port with the group. Vintage port has changed my life. I ...
