Re: Quinta do Valle Meao 2007

Dale - We tasted it last month at Qta do Vale Meao during the Port Explorers' Tour, when we had a vertical tasting of all their VPs from 2000 to 2008. I gave the 2007 a 93, my highest score of all the vintages. It had not closed down at all. Nose of cherry, it was full bodied with strong tannins and...

2007 Qta do Crasto Vinha Da Ponte at WTSO

The current WTSO offer is for 2007 Quinta do Crasto Vinha Da Ponte. It's $89.99 + free shipping. There are no notes on it in the TNDB - has anyone had it? Is the price reasonable?

Re: Buyer's Op Redux

Roy - As I am still building up a decent port and Madeira cellar, I look forward to more buying ops. That said, I, too, would love to see some opportunities to get older ports, both vintage and especially colheitas, and Madeiras. I still kick myself for missing with the Quevedo buying op :( . I appr...

Re: Dow tasting in NY March 19th

Jeff, My wife Ruth and I are planning to be in Philadelphia for several days around the 19th and would love to come to NY for the tasting. We both went on the Port Harvest Tour this past October with Glenn, Moses et al. We, too, don't have any of the missing vintages, but would be happy to share in ...

Ramos Pinto and Kopke, although when you take cost into consideration, the Quinta do Portal I got at $19/bottle also makes the list.

I have some Ferreira Duque de Braganca on order and am looking forward to trying that.

Re: What is the best 10 year old Tawny you've had?

Kopke 10 year old Tawny, evidenced by the fact that we've gone through so many cases of it over the past 5+ years. That said, all the 20 year old Tawnies we tasted on the recent Harvest Tour have convinced us that it's time we stepped up to a new 'house Tawny port' (well, Glenn may have also played ...

Re: Buying Op for later this year

I'm definitely in for some of all three types.

I think I'm also going to go on a buying spree (well, within my budget) to look for some older VPs, Colheitas and Madeiras.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

Roy, Little did I know that the biggest cost of the Port Harvest Tour wasn't the tour itself (which is actually quite reasonable as it's an absolutely fantastic trip!), but rather all the vintage ports, colheitas and madeiras we now want to try. We're having a great time, thanks for turning us on to...
