Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area May 1, 2015

I just called the hotel and am good to go! I will also plan to arrive at around 3pm.

In addition to an older Colheita yet to be determined, I am happy to bring Champagne, and/or Burgundy (white and/or red). :drunk:

Thanks again, Andy.

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area May ??, 2015

Ok, lets go with May 1. It would just be the one evening as I've got plans for Saturday and can't do a full 2-day event. Since we've only got a couple weeks, what do you all say to just bring a VP or Colheita 1970 or older?? Does that work for everyone? Sounds like a plan! :thanks:

I was thinking the same thing, Mark. Does anyone know if San Leonardo uses driven corks or T corks for their wood-aged Ports? :munch:

Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.

I'm trying to figure out a way to limit my order to 2 cases. But given the quality of these wines, and the one shot opportunity at these prices, I have a feeling it will be closer to a 3 case order. All tawny. I'm going to tell my wife that I blame Glenn for his excellent review, and Roy for making ...

Re: Zachy's Early Spring Auction - Madeira - Co-Ordination Thread

Hi Matt- I think your analysis is pretty accurate. I was successful on none of the Zachy's lots. In the Christie's live auction, I got 2 lots-- 6 bottles of 1894 H&H Founder's Reserve Solera and 12 bottles of 1912 D'Oliveiras Verdelho Reserva (bottled 1911). In the Christie's Online auction, I ...

I love the Sandeman 20 year and 30 year as well. And their prices are still reasonable, at least for now. Shhhh! :scholar:

Hi Andy,

I will be out of the country for a couple weeks in May, and then have a wedding to attend on 5/24. But if something comes together, and I'm available, I'd certainly be interested. [cheers.gif]

I just saw an offer for the $75 Madeira from the Rare Wine Co.- They are charging a bit more than I believe I paid on the Island).

Which one is it?

Re: TN: 1922 D'Oliveiras Boal Reserva

Using the old rule of thumb of a full day decant for each decade in bottle, I think this would have shown better with a 2-3 day decant. So you should expect improvement over the coming days. [cheers.gif]
