And when pushing the cork in, be careful not push too hard and make a wine fountain. Took me a week to clean that kitchen.

Re: #4: What is your favorite vintage of Niepoort's VP?
Just what I thought. :-) I just had a thought about trying a young one, and the 2007 is still available here. But if you strongly advise me not to do it, I believe you. Sadly, the 2005's are gone, I only found a magnum. But hey, I'll probably drink my last 2007 when I'm older than anyone on this for...

I'll pick up another one soon. Thanks for offering your thoughts.
That's the first time I've had that much bottle variation.

Re: #4: What is your favorite vintage of Niepoort's VP?
Sadly, I still haven't tried any of the VP's yet. Would it be a crime to open a 2007? I don't wanna open the 2005 magnum yet.

Re: Dirk Niepoort - May's Forum Guest Corner Host
Hello Dirk, and welcome. [cheers.gif] I'm a fan of your great Ports, and I'm looking forward to get some of your more exclusive Douro wines, as they finally become available here in Norway (some in very limited amounts, I think). I read a lot of reviews from other wine lovers and experts, but I also...

I think it's brilliant. A lot of people seem to dislike it though.Peter W. Meek wrote:BTW, V for Vendetta is pretty good in a 'graphic novel' sort of way.

1985 Kopke Vintage Port
2010/05/01 The cork broke on the middle, very dry. Fill level about mid neck. No sign of leakage at all. Decanted off a ton of thick sediment. Upon opening, medium deep brick red color, very closed on the nose, smells like old port. 24 hours later: Slightly darker, still "smells like port"...

Re: 2000 Sandeman Vau Vintage
Day 3: Now the tannins are more pleasant, but it still feels dry. Much more easy drinking today, the alcohol is gone from the nose, but so is some of the freshness. Decent aftertaste. Not that much blackcurrant today, much more like "classic Port." I can't imagine this going downhill anyti...

2000 Sandeman Vau Vintage Port
2010/4/25 Decanted about 24 hours My first experience with Sandeman. This is a low priced vintage meant to be consumed early, as far as I know. Massive sweet blackcurrant on the nose, with some caramel and earthy smell. A bit spirity. Taste is very similar, but with some very aggressive gripping ta...

Re: 10 year old tawny by Niepoort
Yes, the previous bottle was leaking just a little bit, but I didn't think it was enough to be worried. But the difference in color is huge, looks like a totally different wine.

10 Year Old Tawny Port by Niepoort
2010/4/23 Bottled 2009. Tasted to compare with the one bottled in 2010. First of all the color is completely different from the previous one, wich was golden. This is a much darker brownish red. Alcohol is much more integrated, even without extended decanting. It feels sweeter and more pleasant, th...

Re: 64, 67 or 70 Nacional?
Ok, I backed out at the last moment. There was a choice between a couple of bottles of wine and a new expensive keyboard.. being a professional and gigging musician, I had to pick the most important thing. But hey, those bottles have been there since december, no one is buying them because of the pr...
