Re: Drunk Driving and Fake Science

Off-topic, but can someone explain "like white on rice"? Guessing an American expression - wondering what the "white" is? Here's an online definition of it. It's just an expression that has been around for a very long time. To be on or close to something. the word does not carry...

Re: ADRIAN BRIDGE

Hi Adrian, I would like to ask for a little more background on your strategy with the Krohn acquisition, in particular with regard your general approach to how you planto sell the Krohn Colheitas going forward. I understand that some may (or may not) be being used as part of the series of Taylor 50t...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Taking the capsule off last night I was confronted by a slightly depressed cork with a puddle of smelly brown goo sitting on top of it. Not encouraging. After wiping off the goo I drew the cork which was not obviously branded. The cork smelt rancid. I then cleaned the neck of the bottle to remove a...

Re: Rule of thumb for bottle size aging difference?

Would a magnum take longer to mature and therefore you'd hold off longer if you wanted to experience it at its peak? Yes. I'm not aware of any empirical data though; I would hazard a guess that the relationship between time to maturity and volume might be roughly proportional to the square root of ...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Planning on a port night, Friday night with a couple of friends. Planning on two bottles Options are: 83 + 85 Dow 77 + 85 Fonseca 70 + 77 Offley 77 + 85 Gould Campbell Which one sounds the most appealing? Could swap the 85 Dow for an 83 Ramos, Ferreira or Fonseca. [shrug.gif] For myself, I'd choose...

Also, the VPID currently contains two images for Petre's VP, again 1980 and 1990.

Great tasting note. From your description, this sounds like a wine I would very much enjoy; I hope to try it at some point.

Hi David! I do have a bottle of Blandy Boal and sent a mail to Chris...without ANY response. So I do guess that his request is fake, anyways. But it does exist... Cheers Andy It looks like he only posted his request yesterday, perhaps he doesn't check his mail or the forum quite as often as the res...

Re: White tawny - what should I be trying?

OK, so I've just opened a San Leonardo 20yr white - just for research purposes you understand - and my first impressions are very good. The 20yr white is well-balanced, lovely flavour with power, complexity and length. In some ways it is quite similar to the non-White 20yr - and I mean that positive...

Re: White tawny - what should I be trying?

Hi Mike, It sounds as though our tastes with older sweet whites might be quite similar - I could have written similar thoughts about most of the wines you mention in your first post. I would add that I tend not to like the dry whites - either the young recent release typically intended for mixers, o...

Re: Port with no Selo

I think the option for the selo to appear elsewhere like this has been in the rules as an option for a while? Am fairly sure I saw examples of this when I was looking up about the "selo-cap" as used on some in-flight port miniatures. Yep, IF you count 8 months ... a while. IVDP wrote me b...

Those who know me will not be surprised to learn that I have just decanted my traditional port for Xmas, a Cr70.
... which it looks like I'll be needing to buy some more of in the next couple of years, assuming the tradition is to continue.
