1973 Quinta do Noval LBV Port
First time ever a bottle of Port (or wine) from my birthyear. Turned out very nice. A very pleasant drink. Colour very light / orange (see picture, taken from the last glass of the bottle so with some sediment). Nose: Still some fruit present, some spices and citrus notes. Taste: Quite develped/evol...

Re: What have you opened this week?
This weekend, as an early (quite early even) birthday wine- and portevening, I'm planning on opening a 1973 Noval LBV . Very curious how it will be (if it survived all this time [beg.gif] ). Fill level of the bottle looks promising at least :salute: . It will be the first time opening a port or win...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
2011 Pocas Junior VP (9x). According to my cellar inventory, and drink-planning, I should now have just about completed my Port collection  . That is, on paper of course. So hopefully I can now actually stop buying port for some time (as I've promised myself over and over again [beg.gif] [beg...

Re: is this VP or Colheita
I just received a reply back on my message to Royal Oporto (Real Companhia Velha), from mr Pedro Silva Reis (president). He let me know that they "don't recognise the labels on the bottles as being original and have a strong feeling that the bottles are fake". And he also said they recent...

Re: is this VP or Colheita
Two bottles? What's the back story the auction company is given on where they came from? It's probably real. But given how much old Port is being faked right now, I'd send a pick to Royal Oporto and ask their opinion on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Just to be sure: an e-mail including pic...

Re: is this VP or Colheita
Tawny (Colheita). Fill is very good. Appears to be bottled in recent few decades. Why isn't there a Selo on it though? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Part of the puzzle is the absence of the selo indeed (could indicate that is was bottled a very long time ago (which may indicate that it is a VP...

is this VP or Colheita
I am a bit unsure about a 1927 VP which is on the market. the label says Vintage port (matured in wood, but that's not uncommon), but the necklabel, which states the year (millesimé 1927) also says "Tawny". See the picture. Is this a VP of more likely to be a Colheita? And, is it worth try...

Re: What Portuguese wines have you opened this week
2010 Casa Burmester Reserva - Douro Red How was it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quite good, as expected (had this Reserva a couple of times before, other vintages though). Still youthfull, nice tones of the wood-aging, firm (dark red and forest) fruit, and nicely balanced. And, a thing I alw...

Re: Avoid the Trap
Looking at my excell-wine-records, I just looked some things up: - I purchased my first 6 bottles of Port in august 2007, as a form of research I guess to see if I liked it enough to buy into VP 2005 (the birthyear of my oldest son). It was a Graham's 10 yo Tawny (at a great price at the time [yahoo...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Ordered 6 x Cálem 2011 VP this weekend. Just waiting for confirmation on availability and delivery details. Got them at a nice price (just under €27 a bottle). Update (Aug 23): Just received a message, that these were sold out unfortunately :( He did have a couple of Cálem 2003 VP. I took all 4 off...
