Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
Perhaps my criticism of their play was not entirely justified, Edelmann had 10 catches for 100 yards, but went through a stretch of 4 drops too. Gronk had 8 catches for 85 yards including 2 scores. The Chiefs did not help themselves in play clock management either. So what just happened in AZ? Rodge...

Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
From where I sit, as it turned out, Gronkowski was ineffective outside of the red zone, and Edelmann perhaps due to timing issues was just ineffective. On the other hand, the entire Chiefs defense, for about half the game, was unable to stop Brady, and could not get a turnover in spite of at least 1...

Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
As of this morning, Rob Gronkowski is expected to play, in spite of significant issues with his right knee, and also his back. I had expected him to be close to 100% today after a bye week, but not so. In light of this, unless Julian Edelmann comes up with something brilliant after being out for mon...

Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
Belated reply to Roy - the Oakland Raiders are not pathetic IMHO, I would take them over several other teams, including their quasi-arch rivals in San Francisco.
I hope they get a respectable and honorable resolution to their challenging stadium/location issues.

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend
I believe there the wind was blowing quite strongly from right to left on the kick too.
That broken play leading to the 35 yard pass to Lockett was something to behold, unless you were cheering for the home side.

Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
I'm pulling for the Hawks and the Packers, which would put the NFC Championship game at Lambeau Field.

Re: NFL Divisional Playoffs
Agreed with the moderator decision. :-) While I first thought the Steelers had the best chance to win on the road this weekend, perhaps that should be the Chiefs, especially since the last time those teams met was in I believe Week 4 of the prior season at Arrowhead Stadium, with the Chiefs winning ...

NFL Divisional Playoffs
Since the football discussion is already moving forward to next weekend, I decided to start a new topic for that, if nobody objects. At the moment, I am taking the Patriots over the Chiefs, the Broncos over the Steelers, the Panthers over the Seahawks, and the Cardinals over the Packers. I think the...

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend
Overall record, 3-1. I should have picked the Chiefs.
The first half of the Seahawks-Vikings was some of the least watchable post-season football, IMHO, I have ever seen.
Are special teams cursed when playing against the Hawks?

For the record, after 48+ hours, the wine's profile is not much different than when first uncorked. Still very nice to drink, but not (yet) very complex. With take out wild salmon pizza (Fire Pizza in Vancouver BC), it's an excellent pairing.

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend
Thank you Roy, I am glad to be here again and have missed the forums a great deal. IMHO, in such congenial playing conditions, the participants ought to be permitted to consume, as discreetly as possible, equal amounts of non-alcoholic and preferably port and/or madeira. Should the improvement in pl...

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend
The projected forecast for kickoff in MN is 4F with no chance of snow. Marshawn Lynch will not play, I am still taking the Hawks. Andy Dalton will also be inactive for tomorrow, so I am now predicting the Steelers to win on the road - but hope to be pleasantly disappointed. I kinda wish the other NF...

Re: TN: 2013 Ferraton Pere & Fils Hermitage Les Miaux blanc
Over the last few years, my French red wine purchases have shifted from Bordeaux to Burgundy to the entire Rhone Valley, also for price. IMHO the last affordable Bordeaux vintage was 2004. Some of the Burgundies are still not prohibitively expensive, even in Vosne Romanee. When red Burg is on, it's ...

NFL Wild Card Weekend
Since I did not even post on forum in 2015, it's nice to change from procrastination to prognostication. (All kidding aside, there were family health issues, but that's another story entirely). Kansas City at Houston: People are saying the Chiefs are the dangerous AFC team. While they have had I thi...

Re: TN: 2013 Ferraton Pere & Fils Hermitage Les Miaux blanc
Hello Bradley, it's a pleasure to meet another white Rhone enthusiast. I concur with your observations, they can be amazing when made well. I believe Jean-Louis Chave considers its Hermitage blanc to be its flagship wine, even though market price for at least the Cuvee Cathelin is quite a bit higher...

TN: 2013 Ferraton Pere & Fils Hermitage Les Miaux blanc
Was uncorked on January 7, 2016. This estate was acquired by Chapoutier, but its wine continues to be sold as Ferraton. I believe it is a 50/50 blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, sourced about 80% from Les Dionnieres, and 20% from Le Meal. Purchased by online auction for $20, but supposed to retail in...

Cardinals vs. Patriots. If Gronk is hurt, take Arizona. If he's healthy, it's a coin toss.

Re: NO SPOILERS (Please!!!) Star Wars
For what it's worth, my wife and I liked the movie, and my daughter hated it. We and 7 other people watched Sisters on Christmas night; my daughter thought the latter movie was by far better. For me the best part of Star Wars always has been and still is the music, and that was great. Episode IV, ba...
