Re: TN: 2001 Niepoort Vertente Douro

I wonder if you could describe the label? Is it one of those story-telling ones like we are seeing these days?

Re: Go Fortify Yourself

There is a fellow who writes for the Globe and Mail who (in my opinion) is not a very good writer. I have emailed him a few times to point out his writing errors, he does reply from time to time!!

Re: TN: 2008 Quinta do Crasto Branco Douro White

WTN: `08 Crasto White, Douro. These whites can mostly be drunk on release and go well with shrimp, mussels etc. Braised pork tenderloin worked too in this case. Citrus floral nose plus apple and some minerally tones. Crisp dry on the palate, zippy, nice fruit balance. Has a green olive edge which I...

Re: What's the best under $25 bottle of Port you've tried in the past year?

But I bought a bottle of 2000 Calem VP this spring for €16,50 ($ 24), just to try and it was drinking very well. It's a house which is not discussed here a lot, but at that price its very recommended. Price is when buying any Calem. I could say a lot things, but won't. :Naughty: :snooty: Calem port...

Quinta Nova and the red Pomares from the Douro!

TN: `08 Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Douro Pomares Vinho Tinto. Blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. 13.5% alc, close to $20 Cdn. Opened one hour and decanted to give it some air as I suspect quite a big wine. Purple black color, big intense centre. Plum and cherry on...
