Re: 2015 Niepoort vintage port and more!

I got to try both of the 15s at Dirk's home in Porto during São João They struck me as very different wines.. The Bioma is supremely sexy and very approachable. I'm never quite sure how wines like this will mature, but suspect that most buyers won't wait to find out.. The regular Niepoort had a spi...

Re: 2015 Niepoort vintage port and more!

That is a good deal for an awsome port! That are the perks of being a business owner in the Port trade. I also recieved a bottle of Graham's The Stone Terraces 2015, for next week [cheers.gif][/quote]

Re: 2015 Niepoort vintage port and more!

Nice, very nice tasting Jasper! Special reason why you didn't (get to) taste the 2011? I don't know why, these ports were selected for the 'masterclass'. I think they wanted a mix of old and new. Very attractive tasting indeed, Jasper! Wish I had been there too :-) . Very happy to read, that Niepoo...

Re: What Portuguese wines have you opened this week

I knew I shouldn't have thrown the bottle out so quick before writing down what is was. It was a Luis Pato wine in 500 ML that was aged in clay pots. White wine with effervescent and tasted really pure. Reminded me of pinot noir on the nose and nice round feel in mouth. They make both a red and whi...

Re: 2015 VP's, will you buy?

Wait until you've been doing it a few more years and the addiction to buying VP has gone from a fun hobby to total obsession. I remember when I used to get cases of Port delivered. I'd put them in the trunk of my car, wait for my wife to go to sleep and then carry them down to the cellar. I just di...

Re: What Portuguese wines have you opened this week

This evening, plans changed and I opened a 2007 Duas Quintas - Reserva Especial Tinto, and it truly was very special. The single best non-fortified wine I've had from this producer, which is saying a mouthful. IF any of you have access to this wine ... grab whatever you can find. Seriously! Hi Roy,...

Re: TN: 2015 Quinta da Manoella Douro -- by Wine and Soul

Snapshot tasting of a barrel sample so no detailed TN. This had amazing fresh fruit and massive complexity. Bright with a ton of grip and a long explosive finish even at this young stage. This will be a killer wine in time. 95-97 points Hi Andy, Two questions: 1. When did you taste the barrelsample...

Re: The next great subscriber's buying opPORTunity.

Paul, As much as I would love to spread the thanks to our subscribers outside of the USA, I have no influence with agents and importers in other countries. There have only been three buyer's ops that have been open to other countries or in one case just the UK and Canada. So while I'd be thrilled t...

Re: The next great subscriber's buying opPORTunity.

Today begins one of the greatest values in Vintage Port that has ever been offered through the Buying Ops in the newsletter over the years. I hope you are going to enjoy this one, because I can promise there will never be VPs offered at a price like this ever again! Even buying a case of any of the...

Hi Roy! You state: "I promise to have thick skin; so shoot straight", so I will give my opinion. I mentioned this to you last year. In general I am very happy with the newsletters (good variety of articles and tasting notes) and I end up reading most of it, and in many cases all. However,...

Re: The next great subscriber's buying opPORTunity.

Hi Paul, Thanks for your concern. I will not release the current newsletter without the inclusion of a Buyer's Opportunity. Since late June, the individual that I have been working with, (importer) has gone from the USA back to PT for a critical surgery; so he could convalesce surrounded by family....

Tom, I'm pretty sure this rule doesn't apply to the Conceito VP '07. I liked it a lot and the still wines of Conceito (red and white ) are even better! Try them!
