Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Thank you Roy...just to correct the ambiguity in my prior post, I was referring to the off-line mainstream press. After thoroughly enjoying your November newsletter, I am eagerly awaiting your December issue. I also wish I had been able to attend the grand Madeira tasting in Seattle last January. Th...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Hello Roy, I have bookmarked the other site you referenced. I neglected to mention, there is scant little discussion of madeira among the mainstream wine press. Robert Parker does not consider any madeira estate as worthy of inclusion among the great wine estates of the world. A typical madeira chap...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Hello from Surrey BC Canada, a suburb of Vancouver. It is a pleasure to be here. I have been a serious wine lover for about 22 years. My tastes gravitate strongly towards the so-called Old World, specifically France (every region except Champagne, too headache prone) and Germany, but I like any fine...

Re: Drinking Notes 2002 Langhorne Creek Verdelho
Thank you Andy and Roy for your kind comments. I will take Roy's advice and post an introduction as well.
As a postscript, the verdelho might be described as very pale yellow with greenish tint - not unlike a Kabinett from the Middle Mosel.

Drinking Notes 2002 Langhorne Creek Verdelho
This is my first attempt at posting any kind of evaluation of wine on the internet, so I ask readers for their forbearance. This table wine, 13.5% alcohol, from South Australia, was a surprisingly excellent introduction to this varietal, and gave me more desire to try a vintage madeira from the same...

Re: 1948 and 1968 Blandy's Bual
Thank you Roy and my apologies for referring to a 1948 as an old vintage. Sorry to say I have read a little about madeira and tried some blended bottlings and loved them all. There is something about the sheer tang or bite or cut or whatever the correct term is that makes madeira very special and un...

1948 and 1968 Blandy's Bual
Hello and I wish to thank Roy for his very kind invitation to come here. I would love to hear some input from the members on these old vintages. I am contemplating a purchase of either or both of them. Thanks.
