A wonderful 'mid-range' ($295) malvasia. Classic Barbeito 'crystalline acidity and sweetness', this is a wonderful elixir, deep and bright. Beautiful. 94 pts.

Sometimes, I think what it would have been like shopping for Madeiras in the 1980s and 1990s. Talk about bargains!

Madeira - History in a bottle. I love to think about what was going on in the world while that Madeira was sitting in cask.

Within the world of wine, I love how Madeira allows one to take a fast taste, here and there, without committing to the whole bottle. I've now had bottles lasting months. They become like short-term friends.
