Interesting, as I've always loved Port, but have only had an interest in other wines relatively recently, the last decade or so.

Taylor, just because I do! Not in all vintages of course, but my peak Taylor experiences eclipse my top Fonseca experiences.

2004s are on the list as #2 daughter is a 2004 baby, but nothing bought yet.
Seems like very few are around, non locally, but hopefully in the fall.

I only want a "few" cases :)

Great choice to make!

Personally, I'd go for either two Fonseca 85, which is drinking well but quite young, or the Taylor 70.

I prefer drinking Vintage Port at age 45, which currently my only choice. After Aug 4th though, my birthday, I'll be drinking them at age 46! Hope to be drinking them at age 90 too, in 2052 :P In terms of the age of the Port, I'm ll over the map, although about 30-35 years old seems to be the sweet ...

I opened a 1/2 of taylor 97 maybe 6 months ago. Lovely, although mostly closed. Great promise. Not remotely close to being ready to drink, forget about mature! I'm not touching another for 10+ years! That said, the Grahams 85 IS drinking well, although there is no hurry to drink it up remotely. So, ...

From memory, about 20%.
Now I wish that 20% was skewed more towards the 80s and before than the 90s and 2000s, although I bought relatively heavily in 2000 (birth year) and 2003 (can't help myself). 2004 will be "a few cases" as well as it's a birthyear too

Happy Roy Day! I've had the Maury - gave it 89 points but too sweet for more than a glass or two or maybe three . . . The house Maury is now a 28 whatever you call it when they keep adding stuff to the mix, Solera or Sombrero or . . . Seriously, happy birthday Roy. As we say in Greek, Na ta katostes...

I've had the 83 and 85 Fonseca and Grahams side by side now. The 83 Grahams is fantastic, but the 85 blows it away. The 83 Fonseca is not nearly as good as the 83 Grahams, maybe 91/92 points, and the 85 Fonseca blows it away by a big margin (and the 80 Fonseca simply sucks big time as a VP)!. Dow is...

2004 VPs - when?

2004 is a birth year, hopefully the last until grandchildren arrive, so I'm looking forward to a few cases of 2004 VPs. Some for their earlier drinking nature, and some to pop at 20 and 30+ years of age. Any idea of when we might see these appearing in the US? I get the impression we're still floode...

I've drank a fair bit of this too and love it, however it seems relatively primary to me compared to the 70 for example (which I didn't try in its youth). I think it's got a long way to go and will evolve. I'll probably like it better older, but it's a question of preference. I think it's still a ba...

And for 61 babies

I was born in 1961. No VP, although the 61 Colheita from Krohn is tasty. My problem with 61 is I'll never buy the big name Bordeaux, because I can get so MUCH more excellent VP for the price. OK, maybe never. I always have a "get rich slow" scheme going - the "get rich quick" doe...

Seriously, post a TN when you try it. Way cool!
I once grudging sampled some Maine blueberry wine. It was quite night -- similar to a pretty good Zin!

Great dialog! As 2000 was the birthyear for #1 son (hmmm, I sound like Charlie Chan!) I bought but did not taste. As 2003 wasn't a birthyear, and suddenly I felt much older, I did taste and liked what I tasted. Wish I had tasted 2000! Lesson learned -- try everything young, especially as there is no...

I've got a Mag of the 77 - no hurry obviously.

I expect to be totally bald in 30 or so years - and shall open it then!

The NH liquor stores (try the ones on I95, both sides) can have shocking values that blow everyone away, Internet merchants including. They can also have "huhhh?" prices that make no sense. Definitly check out Blanchards and Martys as suggested - they are within walking distance of each ot...

As a security professional, I'll chime in that Random guy DOES have legitimate concerns, especially if his name is unusual like 'Ted Demopoulos,' 'Zaphod Beeblebrox," or "Seth Godin." Now if he's another "John Smith" or even "Jon Smythe," no concerns. Nonetheless, ...

The Grahams I've had once, and it was good, really good, but not spectacular - 91ish points The Churchill around 89 points from one tasting - quite enjoyable. Dows - a blockbuster! Picked a few more up dirt cheap from Premier Cru a couple of years ago but haven't retried since. So that's what I know
