Re: Vintages... Best?

Prices also vary between different vintages as reviewer scores makes quite the impact as in the still wine scene. Also some producers make quite a few more bottles than the other and scarcity has a great impact on prices as well. Another factor is that you are based in the US and price points in the...

Re: Vintages... Best?

Sound advise have been given already. As I am a big QPR guy myself and like my VPs with around 40 years of age or more I would suggest buying into: 1983 1985 1997 2003 2011 Especially the last 3 I mention is highly undervalued at the moment. The 1997 will soon begin to creep up in price substantiall...

Re: What tasting glasses are available these days?

I tend to use the Zalto Universal glass (white wine).

For tastings I use the IVDP quite a few.

Re: possible 1945 port, producer/shipper unknown

2 other producers that are know for using stencil on their bottles are Barros and Feuerheerd. My guess would be one of the two or Kopke as Andy mentioned. Probably only worth a flyer. The Ramos Pinto though is stellar if you can find it. Here is a picture of a Barros 70VP and a Feuerheerd 58VP. The ...

Re: Database for Port

Has anyone compiled a spreadsheet of which houses declared which years, with as many houses as possible? Looking mostly for the past 30 years. It would be a godsend. The Swedes have done so and you can find it here. https://www.vintageport.se/vintages.php You can send a nice VP my way [dance2.gif]

1985 Croft VP. A stunner in "mint" condition. Sleek on the entry, lush with Amarena cherries and toffee and the hallmark of Croft, the mint. Long after-taste as well. This is in a perfect spot for drinking right now. My friends were very pleased and it was gone in a jiff. 95 points. I'll ...

We could just make our own list together on the forum? Pretty sure we could reach a consensus [friends.gif] Could do something like this for the relevant years in each decade. Re: 1991 vintage port

I think the 1992 Taylor's is fantastic and right now, in my opinion it is better than the '94 version. I don't know if that's due to the burliness of the '94 and it not being fully mature yet or if the '92 is just that good. But I do know that today, the '92 is my choice. I second that. It is a ste...

Bought a 2003 Maynard's White Colheita some years ago and that had signs of seepage. So I backup your claim. If I recall I have seen it on a few other old colheitas bought many years after bottling. Those were sourced from not so clean provenance [friends.gif]

Sipping on a Warre's Otima 10YO Tawny while contemplating what I will surprise my neighbour with for his 40th birthday next weekend.
