Re: possible 1945 port, producer/shipper unknown
I also believe the last digit is a "5" but right now, time is not something I have much of. So, I apologize if some, or most, or any of these have already been mentioned, but this off the top of my Port head, before going to sleep. More names in Port that bottled using stencils, (are we go...

Re: The Rise & Fall of the Euro
I have a feeling that the Euro is going to take a dip in the coming weeks. We shall see, but at least for wine purchasing on the European side of the pond, now is a good time to be buying Port with USD!

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Lucas, Those 2015 LBV's you mentioned are excellent. Then again 2016 and 2017 are also fine years for LBV's. No rush to drink them either, especially the ones marked Unfiltered. Eric, Nice list. Those Kopke 50's are both excellent and great prices we were offered. I have yet to open my wine suitcase...

I have not met a 2015 from any region in Portugal that I did not like. Such a fantastic year for still wines, overall. Kind of like 2011.

Re: 1991 vintage port
1991 Vargellas and especially Croft are standouts for TFP in the vintage. Of course TFP did not own Croft back then, but they do now. 1992 Fonseca is spectacular for a youngster nowadays. The 1992 Taylor is possibly every bit as good as the 1994, maybe just not as long lasting, but in terms of flavo...

Eric M. wrote: Personally, I had a 1991 Taylor Vargellas a number of years ago and though it was quite good, for a Single Quinta Vintage Port. It is usually priced lower than the 1992 and 1997 Taylor, and well lower than the 1994. Well yeah, that's because nearly all SQVP's are less expensive than t...

Re: How do I decant?
Buy some inexpensive Tawny Ports if you need to obtain some new T-stoppers. I save mine and if I was still in the USA, I'd send you a couple of dozen. But maybe when you come back to PT someday, Mike! I realize this adds to the expense, but I believe that Madeira shops in Funchal, at the producer's ...

Re: The Rise & Fall of the Euro
Without looking at Google, I have no idea when the Euro actually was launched. And I only checked the Euro for one of my clients yesterday, while we were on the phone discussing a pvt tour for 2023. That being said, have any of you ever invested in Euros as a way to hedge future travels? I have only...

Sediment in Port, especially Vintage Port
What have you learned over the years, drinking Vintage Port when it comes to sediment? I guess it can be other types of Port too. LBV is the category after VP with the most sediment of course, but what other Ports do you find sediment. Let's get more specific: Is there a relationship between the amo...

Re: Fires in the Douro Valley
Many of the fires burning across Portugal are from carelessness and some with intent, sadly. In PT so far this year, the quantity of hectares burned is nearly 4x all of 2021. Currently in Douro, the temperatures are low-mid 30s (C.) and with moderate winds. Of course it is hard to generalize in such...

1 USD = 1.00289 EUR.

Looks like a great table to store some Madeira bottles too, Glenn. Yeah, I realize you can stand them up, but they look good in display racks too and as you well know, require no temperature control or avoidance of light.

Re: 1960 Warre Vintage Port
Was Andy double dipping in his Ports again '60/'63? Or just confusing the TN's? I told you guys not to let him drink too much! [kez_11.gif] Did the rest of you find that the Warre's had issues or was just ok? And was the 1963 of sound provenance? :salute: Wish I was there with you guys, but ...
