Roy, in previous split vintages, the leading shippers always declared one of the two and used the other for single quinta or second label vintages (there are of course exceptions, like Niepoort, who has declared two years in a row a couple of times.) Do you think that Taylor/Fonseca and the Symingto...

Porto wine shop suggestions

I've been to Porto a couple of times, but have yet to find a very good wine shop with a broad selection. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA!

It would in fact be illegal. But, that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen... The argument of Taylor for not making Colheita seems not completely valid though. Dirk Niepoort explained once that good vintage port grapes supply great colour and concentration, whereas freshness is much more impo...

Warre 1992 is lovely. Niepoort 1996 and 1998 (they age quite good as well). Quinta do Crasto 1997. Quinta do Passadouro 1997. And some of the older Quinta da Romaneira's (1989 is still drinking nicely as well as 1986). BTW, the Rozès 1995 (the unfiltered version of course) and Ramos Pinto 1997 are v...

Not being very wealthy, and more willing to spend my money on port than on airfares, I choose Ryanair. They fly from Brussels to Valladolid (Spain) from where it is a 4 hour drive to Pinhao (not that bad given that from Porto it is a 2 hour drive).

I have already bought some Fonseca in futures, and will likely add Pintas and Niepoort (which is always a favorite) to that.
Those will probably be the only ones bought by the case, but I'm sure that smaller quantities of lots and lots of others will be bought...

I've tasted the Passadouro 94 two years ago (from full bottle) and back then it was still very young, primary and dark in colour.
Perhaps you had an off bottle?
