1985 Delaforce Vintage Port

1985 Delaforce Vintage Port (Douro, Portugal) Not sure if this was decanted for very long (I don’t think it was). Light red, with a delicate Christmas cake nose with a hint of alcohol. The raspberry fruit should a decent length and almost carried the alcohol as well. I suspect some more decanting t...

My notes - FINALLY!

TN: Roy Hersh visits London - The Crusting Pipe offline (1906 – 1998)– Part 2 – 12 Oct 2007 Having nursed myself back to consciousness after last nights top notch Port offline at the Crusting Pipe in London’s Covent Garden, I shuffled slowly to my kitchen. There, I cooked myself a modest breakfast ...

1947 Barros Colheita

Drank on 14 Oct 2007 with Roy Hersh and Charles Morgan in London. 1947 Barros – Colheita (Douro, Portugal) Bottled in June 2007, my thanks to Roy for bringing this gem along. This is the first Port I have ever drunk from 1947. Light mahogany brown with a tinge of light red and a terracotta rim. The ...

- 1994 Nacional. About as close to perfection as it gets, though ideally it needs another 30+ years.

Roy,
The '91 Colheita was US$50 and the '75 Colheita US$100. This seems like too much to me. Great to spend some fun times with you in England recently.

Derek,
Thanks for the tip. :)

Anyone tried these Anderson Ports?

In France yesterday, I saw the following Ports from a producer called Anderson. I have never tried any Ports from this house, so just wondering if anyone has any views on either the producer or these Ports:

- 2000 LBV
- 1991 Colheita
- 1975 Colheita

Derek, Thanks for posting your notes and it was great to see you and Uncle Tom. I think Roy and I did a half decent job of blind tasting, as a team. ;) Here are my notes, and I look forward to seeing you again soon. This is actually Roy H. using my friend Nicos' computer ... The last time I had that particular VP was part of a vertical tasting in FLA with Rupert Symington. It is a very solid bottling but extremely young and primary. 10-12 hours of decant time will reduce the spirit and allow it to integrate bet...

1955 Burmester Colheita Port

My good friend and Port expert Roy Hersh arrived in London today. We shared a modest Chinese meal with German Rieslings from 1979 (Spatlese) and 1983 (Auslese), as well as a 1985 Vin Santo from Italy. For the finale, Roy pulled a “young” Colheita from his suitcase. 1955 Burmester Colheita Port From ...

One story comes to mind for me. First one was when I was walking past a local wine store in London and this was 2 weeks before Christmas. The store had brought in cases of 1985 and 1977 Warre's VP, and were selling it by the bottle. The prices were very cheap, and I bought as much as I could afford....
