1948 Niepoort Garrafeira

After lunch with Dirk Niepoort @ Quinta do Napoles Don’t how long the bottles was opened for, but i smelled a little glue at first, later it became better. The colour is light brown with a hint of red still there. I tasted licorice, figs and a bit of raspberries. The finish was nice, but missed mayb...

Re: What is your TOP Port consumed in the first 1/2 of 2017?

Now that Glenn's got his order organised, I can truthfully say that out of the notes I have typed up from the first half of this year the best port I tasted (and consumed) was the Stone Terraces 2015. It just blew me away. I found it to be the most balanced, elegant and beautiful young vintage port...

Re: Graham's LBV?

You should get it for that price. It is a decent LBV, not the best but still realy nice. When i checked my notes i saw that i gave the Graham's LBV 2011 90 points.

Yes they are, up to number 4.800. I like it as well, shows how "rare" the vintage port is.

Re: 2015 Graham's The Stone Terraces Vintage Port

The Cask Samples are so small :winebath: The Stone Terrace is ment to be a more rare and special port, following the path of Noval with their Nacional. From a cask sample Decanted this young port for 8 hours, maybe a hour or two was better. The port has an intense purple-red color. In addition to a ...

2015 Graham's The Stone Terraces Vintage Port

From a cask sample Decanted this young port for 8 hours, maybe a hour or two was better. The port has an intense purple-red color. In addition to a little alcohol, I smell cassis and plums, very tempting. After a good sip I taste cherries, raspberries, pure chocolate with a hint of pepper. The fini...

Re: 2015 Niepoort vintage port and more!

I got to try both of the 15s at Dirk's home in Porto during São João They struck me as very different wines.. The Bioma is supremely sexy and very approachable. I'm never quite sure how wines like this will mature, but suspect that most buyers won't wait to find out.. The regular Niepoort had a spi...

I don't know why, these ports were selected for the 'masterclass'. I think they wanted a mix of old and new.

2003 Croft Vintage Port

375ml bottle, decanted for about 6 hours. Lots of red fruit on the nose, like rosehip and raspberries. In the mouth a powerful mouth filling port, with round tannins. The tannins are still a little harsh, but not annoying. I taste chocolate, blueberries and figs. Great long finish. I think one of t...
