A last minute add on to take to dinner with some friends last night. Decanted about 4 hours by the time we got to it. A light strawberry color. Lovely soft sweet cherries, anise, and fully resolved tannins. A long lingering finish was an extension of the palate. Though this did show noticeably more evolved than larger format bottles I've had, which I would expect from this half bottle.

Yeah, I agree. That does sound noticeably more evolved than the G77s that I've had.
How many more do you have in the 375 format? I'm jealous... I'm coming to realize that 375 is the perfect size for my household (read: me) and I don't have enough of them!

I have most of a case left of these and have never been disappointed, one of the truly excellent Gould Campbell's made from 1963 to 2007.

A case of 1/2 bottles or 750ml bottles?Roy Hersh wrote:I have most of a case left of these and have never been disappointed, one of the truly excellent Gould Campbell's made from 1963 to 2007.
I have both and the 1/2 bottles are significantly more mature than their 750ml counterparts, which are still young and have a nice long life ahead of them.

I don't buy half bottles of Port. The last time I do so was the 1997 vintage on release, so it has been about 15 years.

Well la de da hahaha. I like having a few 1/2 bottles as it gives me a good sense of how the larger formats will age....and allows me to drink them at a more mature stage earlier :)
