Tasted at Andy's Los Angeles/O.C. Offline with Oscar Quevedo.
This is the infamous 1973 White Colheita that cannot be labeled as such because it wasn't declared in time. Instead it simply says "over 30 years old" on the back label. This particular bottle did not have a bottling date indicated. I purchased it in NYC at the Chelsea Wine Vault.
Casa de Santa Eufemia Special Reserve White Port
Color: Fairly deep gold, slightly orange. Faint green tinge at rim.
Nose: Deep alcohol, meyer lemon, banana?, paraffin.
Palate: Smooth, lightly rich. Nice and mellow. Pale flavors. Faint sweet lemon, more paraffin. Good acidity, not as warm as nose indicated.
Finish: Warm to start w/leftover acidity. Faint sweet lemon. Yet more paraffin. Good length, very pleasant.
Score: 93+ points. I was very happy with this bottle considering that its twin (opened in NYC as an aperitif before a Sandeman vertical) was fairly hot and rough.
