1955 Graham's Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind. After a very odd bottle that seemed more like a white dessert wine (1963 Niepoort), this has classic Port aromas upon the first whiff, although they are slightly musty. This seems more like a slightly past prime bottle from the 1960s. There is also aroma of a red fruit roll-up candy with some cheap perfume, tropical and melon. Later the aroma developed with more berry, raspberry, cherry, and blackberry. This is very sweet in the mouth, with lots of fruit, and a little warmth in the finish, but not enough to be Taylor. And it lacks other Traylor characteristics. Graham? There is a hint of eucalyptus. In comparison with a later tasted bottle (1970 Graham), this seems more subtle. Developed quite nicely. 94 points.
