Casa de Santa Eufemia 30 Year Old Port

Post by Edward J »

Bottled 2009, this is a fairly rare tawny here in the U.S.. The color was lighter than I expected and had a rose tint to it. It doesn't seem to have been harmed by 9 years in the bottle and tasted fresh, with a definite orange zesty acidity up front. The nose was intoxicating and earthy, again with the orange zest. This port was in no hurry to show it's stuff and it took it's sweet time developing in my mouth. One word, complexity. Changing as it opens up and stimulates different taste buds at different times. While it is sweet, it does not seem over concentrated. The finish is like a rivers end, branching out into a delta, each ending in it's own time and some branches go on forever...94 points

Edward,

Excellent description and from the handful of times I've had this Port, a couple directly at the source too ... I'd say, "You nailed it"! :salute: :winepour:
