NV Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Bottled in 2016. Based on color and a nose mixed with dried fruit, nuts, and also some vibrant cherries this is more of a "Portuguese" style of a Tawny with an Indication of Age. Some medium weight sweetness is tempered by the expansive mix of brewed tea leaves, dried cherries, dried rose pedals and cherries, solid acidity, and finally mocha that comes out on the long lingering finish. I will be the first to say older versions of weren't all that great. In the past few years Ramos Pinto has done an amazing job of transforming what was an average, at best, 20 year Tawny into one of the top from this category.
