S. Leonardo 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by Thomas V »

Bottled in 2017

Decanted 2 hours prior to tasting and served at 12 degrees Celsius. The room temperature in the room was very high due to the sun. This increased wine temperature rapidly and may have influenced the finale grade.

Brunt caramel. Feels thin on the palate. Cane sugar and syrup. This needs more acidity to to balance out the sugar. Doesn't settle down in the mouth.

88 points.

Almost sounds slightly corked, just enough to rob it of all it's complex flavors. Not a normal showing of this I assure you.

BTW, it's San Leonardo (or S. Leonardo)

I just discussed the naming of the brand with Peter Skov, the Danish importer of the brand. He say it is Sao Leonardo.

Maybe I will just have to ask Miguel when I see him at my port fair early February [kez_11.gif]
