1997 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind. Aroma is sweeter and juicier than the previous wine (1997 Taylor), with rose hips, orange, and cherry; and a little menthol spirit. Still floral on the second pass. Chocolaty coating in the mouth with cranberries embedded in it. Good tannins too, quite puckering. 94 points?

This Port got a 100 pts from Robert Parker. Never had it so nice to read the review.

I've had this a number of times now and IMO the past few years it's not shown as well as in the past. It's still very good but I suspect it's in a shut down phase like the 1994's went through.
