1997 Cálem Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind. The aroma is more herbal, leafy, tarragon and mowed weeds, and maybe some celery seed. Then there was some cherry aroma. In the mouth, there is lots of juicy refreshing acid-orange, citric, ... Really, really refreshing. Not as concentrated as some (e.g. #8, later revealed to be Gould Campbell), but really a nicely integrated package. There is some blackberry jam too. 95 points. This turned out to the be the wine of the day out of 30 1997 VPs. What a surprise!
