Had our auction this weekend and one of the consignors had sent along some wines and ports to taste during lunch. Great move on his part because his wines were coming up after we broke from lunch and they happend to be wines that were in the auction. I won't go into the CA or Bordeaux but the 2 ports that he gave us went off like a firecracker!
1994 taylor VP 1/2 bottle: Tight at first but came around and opened up like a beautiful rose. Still big and bold with full tannins and high acidity but lots of rich black fruit. Very thick on the palate with lots of chewy reddish raisins.
1994 Graham's VP full bottle: WOW, sweet and soft. I would say that it was almost ready to rock and roll. This was the wine that blew everyone away. Sweet black fruit with great acidity and loads of tannins but in a silky way! The port was in my own words, "Slicker than snot on a brass doorknob!"

Santo,
A nice move on his part
The 1994 Grahams is a solid bottle and one I've enjoyed. Glad you're experience was the same.
