SAMMAMISH TASTING - NOVERMBER 2022 - Sammamish, Washington (11/5/2022)
  • 1983 Graham Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Decanted 5 hours. Dark purple with a hint of brown hues. Dusty fruit notes on the nose with blueberry, cassis, and a touch of rootbeer. Chocolate, light mint, and dark fruit on the palate. Well-structured tannins and some nice dark fruit notes as the long finish. (94 pts.)
  • 1997 Warre Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Purple with light shades of amber. Purity of grape on the nose with blueberry, blackberry, and cocoa powder. Rich mouthfeel with amazing structured tannins and great balance. Grenadine and luscious, layered dark fruits dominate the mid-palate, rolling into a luscious, sexy, long finish. (93 pts.)
  • 1994 Warre Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Dark purple in color. Cocoa powder and dark fruits with black currant and black cherry on the nose. Rich, intense mouthfeel with ripe fig and plum and silky tannins. Great balance and a long, slightly sweet finish. (92 pts.)
  • 1991 J.H. Andresen Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2021. Clear, amber-orange in color. Warm notes with vanilla and caramel on the nose. Smooth, sweet flavor profile with cream caramel, orange spice, and some chocolate. Great acidity and a pleasant, long finish. (94 pts.)
  • 1983 Krohn Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2013. Dark brown amber in color. Chocolate, dates, dried fruit, mahogany, esteva, and molasses on the very rich, complex nose. This has the richness and texture of a much older Tawny Port. The palate has notes of molasses, chocolate, and some dried fig. Nice long finish. (92 pts.)
  • 1964 Justino's Madeira Boal - Portugal, Madeira
Dark yellow-brown in color. Aromas of saline, dried nuts, and some oxidation. Medium-body with salted caramel, orange spice, and some underlying herbal notes. Decent acidity and balance, and a medium-long finish. (91 pts.)
