From a tasting at Pete's Fine Wines in Bellevue, WA, on December 14, 2008.
Dow's Crusted Porto
bottled in 2002
served stand-alone
Purplish in color tending toward red. Red fruits (ripe raspberries and some mildly stewed strawberries) on the nose, along with something faintly chocolate-like. Gripping tannins in the mouth, though not overpowering. They're just obvious and present. Some pepper and heat. The red fruit carry over into the mouth, but aren't as prominent and blend into a more "purple" flavor.
I wasn't particularly impressed with the crusted. The note I wrote in my rating column was "meh."
