2007 Sandeman Vintage Port

This is one of the darker VP's from this vintage, pure squid ink. Still a touch tanky and full of dense dark fruit with more grapey notes still. This is one powerful VP. From the moment I tasted it and the tannins and fruit hit my mouth like a freight train, I knew this was going to be one VP hard to beat. From the dark boding fruit, big tannins, solid acidity keeping it fresh, to the very long finish, this ended up being one of my top 1/2 dozen bottles of the vintage. I hope this marks the return to greatness for their VP's. (I've had two other sample bottles with similar results)

Nice, Andy. Thanks for posting it, I enjoyed the read and wondered if this was a recent TN or one from a while ago and it helps me to know it is approaching a year since that specific note was written. As we've discussed together several times, this is a really stunning Sandeman and my comment has nothing to do with George being around. He certainly won't be reading here. I'll buy in when I can find a good deal, as this VP is worth owning as you know.

i think the 2007 sandeman sounds superb modern for me but i may buy 6 bt if its sandemans near there old best i want some symonb

The only thing "modern" about the 2007 is the date on the bottle. Otherwise, it is a "throwback" to the great old days when Sandeman was one of the most respected names in Vintage Port, actually, Port in general.
