Here's a link to my lengthy report on the most memorable tasting of our trip to Madeira with Roy and Mario last month, a visit and tasting of 17 vintage Madeiras at D'Oliveras with Luis D'Oliveira: http://rjonwine.wordpress.com/2010/06/2 ... liveira-2/

You know, in retrospect, and this would be saying a mouthful ... the D'Oliveiras tasting may just have been the finest single tasting event of Madeira I've ever experienced. I'd be hard pressed to remember any that I've done that would top this. How about you Richard?

In terms of quality of the wines overall (not to mention the environment, presence of Luis D'Olivera, being on the island), I would agree. We've done dinners before with this many Madeiras, but the quality level of these across the board was as high as I've ever experienced. Definitely an awesome tasting.
