Madeira Gathering in Silicon Valley-Sat., March 14th

Post by Barry Sunderland »

I'd be open to hosting a 'casual' Madeira gathering in Silicon Valley area. Eric Ifune and I organized a Madeira event last spring from WineBerserkers forum folks, and it worked out well. Any interest?

I'd be interested. I'd need a bit of lead time (2-3 months) to ensure being able to come up with an appropriate bottle and make it down, but I'm not that far away and would love to learn more/enjoy some great wine.

I'd like to participate again. Timing will be the limiting factor.

Would love to go, but unfortunately it is too far.

One should organize one Madeira gathering on this side of the Atlantic, as well, or perhaps in the "middle" of it...

Thanks for your early interest, gentlemen.

What month or months look good?

I am pretty flexible.

March perhaps? A weekend other than the third weekend?

Hey Reidar,

It's about a 60 minute drive.

Reidar,
If you don't have a car, there is a train that will take you south. One of us should be able to take you from the station to the tasting.

Depending on dates and my schedule as it gets closer I may be able to make it.

Since Reidar is in town, should we just plan on the second weekend of March?

Since Eric, Bradley, and Reidar can do the second weekend of March...so can I. :D

What say you, David, Steve, and Andy?

At this point that weekend looks good, but I won't be able to make a firm commitment for a few weeks. I'm sorry that I can't give a definitive answer yet. Thanks for organizing, Barry.

Chalk me up for a second person as well, a friend from Palo Alto will likely attend as well.
