Quite dark. Great aromas of toffee, citrus, nuts.
Quite full bodied. Proper Terrantez flavors, but with a sweeter profile than I usually like with Terrantez. Closer to Boal than Verdelho.
Nice long toasty finish.

The 1989 malvasia is well-balanced, but not very complex. The acidity matches up to the sweetness. The finish is moderate.

This is good for an everyday sweet madeira.

I find the 1988 to be one of the driest terrantez, like the 1977 D'Oliveira's, but much lighter. I get a strong citrus note. The finish is medium.

I think that it would be a good wine with food.

From Gary's description, I believe I enjoy the 1988 Terrantez a bit more than he does. Nonetheless, it is a very solid and reasonably priced offering.

Been drinking 1988 Terrantez from D'Oliveira's. I have a good amount of these, so it is now my "go to" Madeira when I want something fancier than a 10 year. Actually, I like to add a few drops of T88 to the 10 year. So little is needed to give it a boost!

NV Valdespino Moscatel Toneles. You guys should try one of these. Its remarkably deep and long. Very similar in flavor profile to a Bual/Malvasia Madeira but deeper and sweeter and more concentrated. Lacks the acidity tho that distinguishes Madeira. Should be sipped in small doses.

1977 Cossart Gordon terrantez

I'm drinking these along with the Barbeito Reserve opened earlier. So far, I prefer the H&H, followed by Barbeito, and Cossart Gordon last.

I have had some very good H&H this year. I wish they were more plentiful.

Total Wine opened its first store in MA, in Natick. I stopped in to check out the 22,000 sq ft store. Picked up a 10 year Cossart Gordon for around $30 (750 ml). They also had Taylor 10 (2015 bottled) for $21. The CG 10 I just tried a few sips so far. It's OK.., Broadbent and D'Oliveira's seem to be better IMO. Never had a CG I raved about before, but couldn't resist that price.

I've opened and decanted two bottles and had one glass so far, but will be drinking these and Ports @ Thanksgiving.

ABSL "Extra Reserve" Vedelho, (Canteiro) bottled 1998.

1983 MEF des Verdelho, bottled and purchased by me in Seixal, Madeira.

I am actually considering the ER Verdelho which is super dry for a Verdelho and could pass for a Sercial, to serve alongside our turkey and not wait for dessert ... although we have a stunning lineup of Burgs too.
