I had read somewhere a few years back an article about retiring to Portugal. Aside from what was listed in article posted nby Roy I recall the following:
Has an abundance of fresh produce due to the excellent growing season
Is a hub for medical tourism so you can receive top notch care at state of the art medical facilitites
A substantial portion of the citizens speak English
And the kicker for me as both my wife and I have pensions and retirement acocunts..........
They do not tax pensions/retirement funds as income (I will have to pay taxes on the money here in the states regardless where I residehowever most other countries tax the money I would be bringing in as income)
PORT, PORT and more PORT
