Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

The critics don't seem to be kind to this film, but I liked it better than some of them. The battle scenes did not seem all that real, but Tina Fey was far better than expectations and she did her best to keep this somwhat true to form. But some of the nightlife and other over the top drama did detract from the whole. I'd suggest waiting until this comes to Netflix, Hulu, HBO or whatever else.

Finding Dory ... if you want to take your kid to something with zero cursing, sex or violence.

Saw it opening night last weekend, as the wife needed a night out. Was pleasantly surprised, as I'm often disappointed by sequels. Retained both the humor and passionate family love that made the original such a classic. Perhaps not quite the equal, it's still more than worth the price of admission.

There is a mixed media documentary called, The Tower that highlights the U of T tragedy of 1966. It is gripping and powerful and artfully done, intermixing anime and original clips. A must see!

Fences is as good as I had hoped it would be. Denzel was outstanding but his son and wife in the film were incredible, his wife deserved that Oscar!

The Girl on the Train - meh.
The Girl with All the Gifts - I'm not big into zombie movies, but this was an interesting twist on the genre.
Allied - Worthwhile watching on a plane, but there are better things out there.
Arrival - I really liked this one.
Moonlight - Really well done and worthwhile if you are looking for something serious.
I Am Not Your Negro - A very thought provoking documentary. Besides the issue of race relations, I thought there were a few other interesting points brought up in addition.

Eric, I agree 100%.

I Am Not Your Negro - is the single best documentary I have seen in a long time. The perspective of the director who finished the work of James Baldwin is masterful. I am going to include a review I did on this film on FB from Feb. 24th:
I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO -
To be clear, this is a current film that most people are not aware of yet. It delivers a gut punch reality as to what it's like to grow up Black, in America. The backdrop of 3 benchmark historical events, through the prism of renowned author James Baldwin's unfinished work, provides great insight and intensity. The omnipresent topic of race relations is explored from his and director Raoul Peck's perspective, rarely, if ever explored in this profound manner. A+

I've decided to take my daughter to see this on Thursday night, as it is the last night it will be around here, (in Seattle proper) on the big screen. While we have a large TV, I'd still rather she sees this for the 1st time in a theater. While we may be the only ones, as it has been playing there for a month now; it will be something she never forgets.

If you are into Horror movies, GET OUT is pretty good and most people I know that have seen it, really liked it. For me, meh. That being said, there are some fun twists and turns that you don't see coming.

Love Star Wars...and I prefer the original editions. I heard Disney was going to re-release the originals. Has anyone heard if that is true and if so when? I'd love to get DVD's of them.

A movie that sadly saw very little theater time. Sing Street, set in 1985 Dublin about a boy who starts a band to impress a girl. Sweet stuff.

A fine but subtle film about several murders in Wyoming, on an Indian Reservation. It was celled WIND RIVER and I saw this in our local theater. Not for the squeamish, but otherwise a solid movie.

Saw the new version of "It" the other day. Let me say I am not a fan of most horror movies. This one I really liked. It actually had a good plot, good acting, some funny parts and wasn't cheesy. Highly recommend it.

Just in time for the Academy Awards ...

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I read NOTHING about this movie in advance of checking it out. It really surprised me and the acting was the best part. The theme and pacing were less outstanding, but somehow this all shockingly comes together by the end. And no, they don't all die!

I saw Dunkirk before the Oscars, and while there were parts to like, I didn't think it was all that great. I was satisfied that it didn't win the big awards. I'd give it about 88 points. In that vein, I do want to see Darkest Hour.

In a different realm, Black Panther was very enjoyable and one of the top Marvel movies.
