Dessert wine offering

Post by Roy Hersh »

RH note: That Dow's price is crazy, but a "few" good buys in the listing below:

Whether your poison is Port, Sauternes, Madeira, or a Moelleux from the Loire Valley, we have the ultimate selection of wines that will make any snow day a better day. Dress the kids up in their snowsuit finest, throw them outside, pour a yourself a tipple and call it a day. You deserve it.

2002 Huet (Haut Lieu) - Vouvray Cuvee Constance $130
WS99, 500ml, 2 in Stock

"Delivers the panoply of ginger, lemon cream, green tea, honeycomb and mango flavors you expect from a world-class dessert wine, combined with a lacy, filigreed texture and mineral underpinning that is rare. So pure and balanced, all the sweetness is absorbed on the finish, leaving an incredibly tender yet exhilarating impression of fresh fruit. 199 cases made."
-Wine Spectator (99pts)

2007 Yquem $349.95
WS98, 750ml, 12 on prearrival ETA 1-2 weeks

"Tasted single blind against its peers. Under blind conditions, the Yquem 2007 shines like a diamond. Nevertheless, it is initially rather taciturn on the nose, eventually opening up beautifully with touches of lemon curd, Mirabelle, and clear honey. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine definition and there seems to be a great deal of energy and vigor dispensed for your pleasure. There is such race and nervosity, and then that finish just purrs with harmony and focus. This Yquem feels just so alive and vivacious, yet there is an effortless quality here that is unmatched by its peers. Tasted January 2011."
-Wine Advocate (98pts)

"Big and as hard as nails. Loads of raspberry and fruit aromas, with a green stem edge. Full-bodied and sweet, with an iron backbone of acidity. Long finish."
-James Suckling (94pts)

Just a comment that the 1977 is a magnum. so price is reasonable for retail.

Still that price might sound good up in Canada, but not here! :scholar:
