K&L has nine bottles of madeira in its current auction.

For those of you that do not have the 1802 Oscar's terrantez, there is one bottle in the auction. There is also one bottle of the 1832 Oscar's terrantez.

Is one of our members pruning his cellar?

Gary

I'll be shocked if it doesn't reach $3500 and $5000 wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I am pretty sure I know whose cellar these are coming from, so no issues with provenance.

I bid on the 1875 D'Oliveiras Malvasia but it went well over my limit. In fact, it went well over RWC retail and that's even without 5% buyer's premium.

People do strange things in auctions.

Anyone know what the 1802 ultimately went for?

The 1832T sold for $2,150 +5%. But in case you want another chance, there is another bottle up for bid.

Alright, who won, and where/when is the party?

No surprise on the price the 1802 sold for. Most serious Madeira fanatics call this the best bottle of Madeira they've ever had; including Mannie Berk who has had a wide selection.

The 1832 Acciaioly has never really impressed me and I don't know that I'd even buy it at 1/4 of the price it sold for in the auction.
