2012 Herdade do Esperao Branco Reserva - I had this with dinner last night and it was good enough that I'm going to buy a few six packs.

2007 Broadbent Douro by Niepoort. Wow, this is a great wine for the price. I think it was around $20 or less... Probably the best Douro I have had at that price point.

Is he (Broadbent) still making a Douro wine? I haven't seen one in a long time.

No, it was a one shot deal. He said it was (Broadbent Douro) too close to Crasto Old Vines and would be competing against so they did not make any other vintages. I picked up 18 bottles.

On the Vallado theme, this weekend I had:

2013 Branco
2012 Tinto
2012 Reserva

I had the 2012 Touriga Nacional a few weeks back and also thought it was spectacular.

I just unpacked some '07 Vallado TN; should I consider drinking one or continue to hold on?

Had a'07 Broadbent Douro last night.

Moses,

I bought a case of the 2007 Vallado TN and have gone through about 4 of them so far. They are really delicious and close to the extraordinary quality of the 2011s with possibly just a smidge less concentrations. The 2007 is a bottling, that is certainly ready to be enjoyed but not nearly at peak at this moment. I had one last, around Thanksgiving. It was showing very well and needed 2-3 hours in decanter. Definitely give one a whirl!

Marmelar Red 2012

18 pts Wine Mag PT (2015) - Deep and very complex with notes of macerated berries, fresh jam, tar, spices, and a vegetable touch. Rich but contained tannins, vigor, elegance and personality. Still quite young, it is a very expressive red wine, solid and serious, pure and without artifice. Great wine.

From Alentejo - Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional...just great

And a too aged Mouchão 1997 eating a splendid " Vitela Arouquesa" a traditional dish from highland's located 30 kilometers east from Oporto.

I am heading to a weekend of Ch. Margaux in Atlanta tonight and a table wine I am bringing to dinner is the 2004 Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional. I had this with the FTLOP team a year ago and it was remarkable. Looking forward to tasting it again. I was thinking about bringing a 2001, but that needs a smaller group. We are going to be 9 at this dinner tomorrow.

2003 Quinta de Ventozelo Tinta Roriz - Was a better a wine a few years ago, simple fruit & basic, but it's not priced to be a show off. I have 5-6 bottles remaining.

This is a property that was poorly run for quite a few years that is now, finally, on the upswing again.

Funny you mention the 2003, I was there for the first time that year.

Anyone ever try Caves Velhas Dão Reserve Red "Juta"?

Comes in a unique packaging. It's imported locally, but haven't seen it any stores. I bet it's popular in Fall River, I believe it retails for $9 which is a good spot for Dao's. Hard to beat a Dao at that price point.

2012 Niepoort Bioma Douro red wine last night. Took a couple hours but then finally got its legs and was off and running. Pretty good value for around $23.

2001 Caves Sao Joao Frei Joao Reserva, Bairrada. Went well with the Paella we cooked over charcoal. Bought a case of this wine for great price. I really the classic style of their wines.
