Maybe the longest stretch in many many years without a Douro table wine, (Portuguese wine yes, but not Douro).

Until tonight ... it had been a month or five weeks.

2009 Qta do Crasto, old vines Reserva. Wowow!

1985 Frei João Tinta - Bairrada.
It is not often that I get to open bottles from Bairrada vinified in 1985. While I've owned a 6-pack of these, so far the bottles have been "hit and miss". I just poured this into decanter, to remove sediment and give it no more than 30 minutes of air time. We'll see how this one behaves. 11.8% alcohol is a rarity these days!

Odelouca Tinto 2014, Quinta do Frances, Algarve, Portugal. Well balanced, fantastic wine which i bought from the winery some 2 months ago. After a very nice tour and a tasting session with their awarded wines. Very beautiful place too.

2007 Quinta do Vale Meao Douro Meandro - Fully mature, nice flavors. Don't sit on these too long. Not as floral as some other Douros. Did not take notes, but have a ton of this. Will pay more attention on the next of many bottles. Was a deal at Costco back in the day.

Vinha do Bispado 2014, Douro. Vigorous red wine, great acidity and pepperish finish. Excellent quality-price ratio (8,90 € in Finland).

Mika, never heard of this one. Is this a small producer or a label from a larger producer?

Hello Andy. It is a part of CARM (Casa Agrícola Roboredo Madeira) family business, that's basically all i know.
Here you can find a little bit info about the vineyard: http://www.carm.pt/en/quintas/quinta-do-bispado.php
It's just that everytime i find a new Douro wine at my local liquor store, i am very keen to taste it.
On the other hand, there has been a huge developement with the wines from Algarve within the last ten years or so. They really are revitalizing their wine production and i have come across very pleasant surprises lately and also visited a few quintas over there. So far i haven't found any discussion about the Algarve wines here at FTLOP forum.

On Thursday, we opted out of having any white wines and instead, during the main course, had a 2005 Quinta do Crasto VV Reserva in a side-by-side comparison with 2005 Quinta de la Rosa Reserve, with a steak for dinner. The latter was my preference, which is saying a lot!

It would be fun to put a 2005 Batuta against the de la Rosa and see what comes out the favorite. Both are equally good, but side by side blind would be a real test to see what comes out on top.
