TN: 2008 Quinta da Sequeira Grande Reserva Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

Posted a tasting note abt a year ago. Time to try this again, but now with 5 hrs decanting time in stead of 2.5 hrs.

Wine had 24 months in oak followed by 6 months in bottle before being released for sale.
Decanted 5 hrs. Deep dark red colour with a hint of brown. Fruity aroma (dark red berries) with a well-integrated distinct element of oak, and in addition some herbs. Full body. Powerful start, quite elegant, a “big” wine. There is some dryness in this wine which is dominating the second part of the taste, in my opinion a bit too much. A lot of good things can be said about this Douro red, but it is losing 2 pts due to the extreme dryness. Medium length aftertaste. 91 pts.
