TN: 2009 Quinta do Crasto Old Vine Reserva Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

Have not tasted this vintage of Crasto Reserva for the last 3-4 years and decided to open a case to check the status. It was a pleasant experience. The wine had changed character where the fruit was less dominant and without oak over shadowing the wine. A more “complete” wine than before.
Decanted 3 hrs. Dark red with a tiny light rim. Deep aroma (more complex and interesting than before) of fruit and wet cellar/oak in nice combination with soil/minerals. Full body. Powerful and very pleasant. Taste showing ripe berries, nice tannins, minerals and some oak. Very interesting development of this Crasto Reserva. 94 pts.
