TN: 2010 Casa Ferreirinha Quinta da Leda Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

I have reported this vintage in April this year and gave it 89 pts, which is a bit lower than other Quinta da Leda Douro red-vintages. Wanted to try it again with a longer decanting time. Instead of 2 hrs 45 min it was increased to 3.5 hrs. That worked out well, and it improved two pts.

Decanted 3.5 hrs. Deep purple colour. Wonderful aroma of oak and soil which was well integrated with the fruit. Medium to full body. Smooth at start, and then more powerful in a good way. Nice balance acidity/sweetness. Towards the end the berries became more evident with hints of currant. Long aftertaste. Will leave my remaining three bottles in the cellar for a few years, which I think will be beneficial. 91 pts.
