Cool. And doesn't have to be Douro, this forum is for all Portuguese wines [cheers.gif]

Went on a spending spree last night. Bought 6 bottles of 2014 Casal Garcia Douro at $4.99 each. I didn't even know they offered a Douro wine. Is it the same wine a Charamba? Both are now in screw tops. I think these are the first Douro's I've seen in screw top.

How long did you save up to be able to buy those rare expensive gems? [rotfl.gif]

They make a decent Vinho Verde and rose, let us know how the Douro is.

The label said "Smooth & Aromatic" and that is exactly as how I would describe. Very soft tannins and red berries, in a simple easy drinking wine. No brainer at $5.

Scooped the last 3 bottles of Niepoort Docil 2013 at my local Binny's for $8 apiece. I'm sure there are other locations around Chicagoland that have this end of bin sale going. Get at it, Chicago peeps.

I just picked up a 1970 today, from the same producer, a Reserva Particular. Looks in great condition, but I've had mixed luck with oldies from them. I did have a great bottle of this once before and the bottle I just purchased was from the same source. We shall see.

Crasto Superior Tinto '14 @ €12.80
Crasto Superior Syrah '14 @ €18.80
Crasto Superior Branco '15 @ €12.86
Quinta do Crasto Reserva VV '14 @ €24.95
Quinta do Crasto LBV '11 1/2 @ €9.45

With the exception of the Q.do Castro LBV I would pay (a lot) more in Portugal! :D

Curious to read your notes on the 2014's when you taste them. Do let us know what you think.

One of the reasons for purchasing the Crasto Superior wines was my experience with earlier vintages. The day before yesterday I drunk the Crasto Superior Tinto '09: 7 years old coming from (at that time) relatively young vines but still deeply coloured, full of fruit and fresh like a daisy. Vintages of '10, '11, '12 and '13 all impressed! As soon as I try one of these wines I'll report back!
