First Post ...useless pics included

Post by SEAN C. »

I'm a long time Port drinker and collector who has browsed this forum for quite a while but never posted. Although I collect other wines vintage Port has always been number one in my buying/drinking prioritry. A friend of my who recently joined the forums here convinced me to become "active" and start posting!
Included in my first useless post here are some random Port pics from my collection. Click to enlarge

Nice collection Sean, where do you hail from? If you're English then we'll all be round to sample.
I'm telling you - Port is from Portugal.

Sean,

Welcome to the For The Love Of Port Forum and I hope you have already been receiving your copy of the newsletter!

Before the end of this year, we'll have a spot for you to upload your photos. Nice collection by the way. Clearly you are serious about Port, but what took you so long to join us and become active instead of lurking? I ask this question because I am positive there are many others who do the same thing and I just wonder why they don't feel comfortable posting here. Your answer will really help us to make this Forum better, so don't hold back. Thanks.

Now, if you had only posted this a week ago ... when I was in Brooklyn for a few days ...

I am in NYC/Brooklyn/Huntington LI, 3-4x per year so I am sure we'll drink some Port together at some point.

Sincere thanks for joining us and we are looking forward to many of your posts on our favorite topic!

Some seriously good wines in your collection there - but one must never be afraid of opening them...!

I keep my stock in a dim damp cellar. I hate exposing them to bright lights, and don't parade them for the camera.

No great science in that, it just seems wrong - I like to let them sleep.

Which reminds me that I've promised to photo a couple of my more eminent bottles, but hav'nt

Oh dear...

I must admit I love to look at photos of bottles from other people's cellars, no exception for Sean. Great photos and delighted to see them up on the forum.

Can we tempt you into sharing any of your tasting experiences with us?

Hi Roy,
It took me a while to join because I'm busy and lazy..no other reason.
Unfortunately I've been in the state of MA ..I'm not in NYC till later this week so I would have missed you any way. I'll be ready next time you're in town with a double magnum or two!:D
I choose to snap some photos of a bunch of random bottles from my collection that I had pulled out while taking inventory..I figured it would make my first post somewhat entertaining.
Personally I would like to see more pictures of bottles in this forum. I think it is very helpful to collectors ... I believe the bottles themselves are enjoyable to look at. Seeing as how I can't taste the contents over the internet I can at least drool at the pictures..and possibly it could help decide my next purchase!

You just ruined all those bottles with the flash... Oh my, time to open them all, quick before they go sour... That knock on the door... must be me...

Please be patient and don't upload any more photos for the time being. We have created an entire area on the new website (coming in December) that will provide space for uploading Port related photos. Consider this your Christmas present.
