A need a recommendation for a good mature port as xmas gift

I am a new member to this forum and relatively new to port. I want to buy a mature port for someone for xmas for about $80 max. I have read on this forum that the Warre 1977 is mature now or has ben mature for a few years now, but is still excellent. Is this a good choice or do I go with a Dows 1977? or something else. Thanks in advance.

Between the Warre's and Dow's 1977 I'd definitively go for the Dow's. In that price range, you may want to look at some good wines from the 83 Vintage that are really drinking well right now. Graham's(still young), Ramos Pinto, Dow's, Warre's, Gould Campbell, Cockburn(when good bottle) are all good port that give you excellent pleasure for your bucks!

My suggestion would be to find a bottle of Dow's 1980 which is drinking even better than the excellent, but still primary/young Dow '77. The price is probably less too. Very solid wine from an unheralded vintage.

2 bottles of Dow 1977. One as a gift for xmas and one for me :) I couldnt find a Dow 1980.
