Ongoing Setúbal saga here at the Trombleyhof.
Just received this wine, which is in a 500 ml bottle, from the cellar of a chef in Manhattan. It's a modern bottling, with US warnings, brought into the US by Bartholomew Broadbent.
I understand that some of you have experience with this wine. So some questions:
It's strange to me that the word 'Moscatel' doesn't appear on the bottle. It's labeled simply a 'Dessert Wine'. I wonder why.
What are folks's impressions about the benefits of further aging for this wine? The best of these seem nearly immortal to me, but I'd like to know if I should keep my itchy hands off the bottle.
Thanks in advance.

John,
That Moscatel by Jose Maria de Fonseca is very tasty. I have had a number of them and still own a few. A couple of years ago, after Bartholomew Broadbent (not his father Michael) stopped importing them into the USA, the 1962s were then sold off in an offering by The Rare Wine Co.
I do not find that these Moscatels gain much for the short term. Yes they can improve in the bottle, but at a glacial pace like Madeira. Drink up, this is good nectar for now. Perfect for a holiday libation or celebration with Mrs. T.
