January sales

Post by Tom Archer »

A quick scan through the special offers reveals a couple of goodies:

Farr are doing Delaforce '00 for £170/dozen (+VAT = £199.75), but it looks like you need to spend a minimum of £300 to get the sale prices... :?

Berrys are doing a dozen Smith Woodhouse '94 for £225 Inc VAT - no strings and delivered free. Well reviewed by Broadbent. This looks like a very good deal - a better price than I would expect at auction.

I bought a dozen this morning - they say they have about ten cases left, so don't leave it too long...

Berrys sale tel is 0870 900 4300

Thanks for the heads up Tom. I bought a case in bond for £168 which as you say equates to £18.75 a bottle all taxes paid. :)

I bought a case of SW94 in halves a couple of years ago and paid £220 in bond which I was pretty pleased with at the time, so today's price is a steal. This is really lovely wine and I would recommend anyone in the UK reading this gives Berrys a call right now. Email me for a TN.

Thanks again Tom.

Note also that Berry's are offering Quinta do Noval 20yr Tawny (under their own "William Pickering" label) at £18.95 a bottle including VAT for unsplit orders of six. Again, a very good deal.

Its funny, but the deal from Berry's that really caught my eye was the Berry's Own Label LBV - this is a QdN traditional LBV at less that £10 per bottle.

I've found the wine that I can bury in my back garden for 30 years!

It always hurts when someone mention words "free delivery" - in this case it means 70£ (one case's delivery to Finland). One can forget those LBV bargains.. :(

I agree. I just asked about the delivery charges from Berrys and this was the answer.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly to England from Denmark, collect the wine and put it in the hold of the plane and then fly back?

I wonder what the cheapest flight from Denmark to London would be?

Dow's 1991

Post by tastingnote »

While I will gladly admit to being the manager of one of the stores, Luvians Bottleshop in Fife, are doing Dow's 1991 for £360 per case of 12 bottles. It will cost £15 to deliver in the UK.

Just for the record, I don't make any commission nor do I own the business, so my posting is only to let port fans know of this offer. If you fancy some (5 cases available), contact me on 01334 654 820.
